STUDENT AWARDS & AGM 2023

Alhamdulillah by the infinite mercy of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, the Greater Dawrai Community Association Student Awards 2023 and AGM was sucessfully held on Sunday 30th April 2023 at the London Muslim Centre.

Chairman of GDCA Amir Hussain presided over the events. The program was jointly hosted by Secretary General Alim Uddin Khan and Social Welfare Secretary Mahboob Hanif Islam (Bulbul) and supported by Membership Secretary Tarif Khan and Youth Secretary Koys Hussain.

The award ceremony was held with chief guest, Mayor of Tower Hamlets Council, Lutfur Rahman and Councilor Badrul Chowdhury. Together with LMC Chairman Ayub Khan and Director Dilowar Hussain Khan, Arju Miah MBE, Senior Vice Chairman Anis Ali, Vice Chairman Shaheen Miah, Organising Secretary Humayon Kobir Rajon, they presented awards and certificates to the students with families originating from Dawrai village.

In total 18 awards were issued:

GCSE - 8 awards

A Level - 3 awards

Higher Education - 7 awards

Awards were also presented to the students by Secretary of London Bangla Press Club Taisir Mahmud, Deputy Treasurer Moshiur Rahman Raja, Tajul Islam, Moin Uddin Khan, Shah Ajmol Ali Shipu, Hussain Khan, Kohirul Islam Shoraj, Kamal Hussain, Helal Amin and others.

Students watched a video of Dawrai called 'Home is where the heart is' and participated in a quiz on Dawrai facts followed by 3 raffle prize draws.

Mayor Lutfur Rahman said in his speech that GDCA was highly commendable and encouraged students, by organising activities to increase students and their families' contact with their roots. He thanked GDCA on behalf of the Council.
