Greater Dawrai Community Association (UK) Holds AGM 2026 and Elects New Committee

The Greater Dawrai Community Association (UK) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections on Sunday, 28 June 2026, at the London Muslim Centre in East London. The event was marked by a vibrant atmosphere and the enthusiastic participation of a large number of villagers from Dawrai.

Association President Anis Ali presided over the meeting, which was conducted by General Secretary Mahboob Islam Hanif (Bulbul). The proceedings began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Maulana Abu Khaled Siraji. Following the President’s opening remarks, General Secretary Mahboob Islam Hanif (Bulbul) and Treasurer Shahin Miah presented the organisation’s annual and financial reports, respectively.

Distinguished guests and community members who addressed the gathering included Councillor Amina Ali; former Chairmen Amir Hussain, Azad Miah Faruk and Arju Miah (MBE); former Treasurer Faruk Miah Jilu; former London Muslim Centre Chairman Ayub Khan and former Secretary Dilowar Khan; ATN Bangla UK Head of News Sayem Chowdhury; and senior community elders Moinuddin Khan and Abdul Motin Afruz.

In the second phase of the event, 27 nominated candidates were declared members of the new management committee. Prominent lawyer Barrister Nazir Ahmed served as the Chief Election Commissioner, assisted by senior journalists Abdul Munim Jahedi and Taisir Mahmud.

Muhammad Shahin Miah (Milik) was elected President, while Mahboob Islam Hanif (Bulbul) was re-elected General Secretary. Humayun Kobir (Rajon) was elected Treasurer of the new committee.

The leaders of the newly elected management committee expressed their determination to contribute to the overall development of Greater Dawrai village while also taking initiatives to further engage and support young people from the community living in the UK.
