In the presence of a large number of Dawrai residents living in the United Kingdom, an Iftar gathering and discussion on the significance of Ramadan was successfully held at a venue in East London on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. The event was organised by the Greater Dawrai Community Association (GDCA) UK.
The programme began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Vice Chairman, Tarif Khan. The gathering was presided over by the Chairman of GDCA UK, Anis Ali, while the Secretary General of the organisation, Mahboob Islam (Hanif), hosted the event.
Prior to Iftar, Mufti Abdul Muntakim, Founding Director of Jamiatul Khair Al Islamia Sylhet and a regular guest presenter on Iqra TV, delivered an insightful talk on the rules of life, the significance of Ramadan and the responsibilities of Muslims in the light of the Qur’an and Hadith. He emphasised that Ramadan is not only about fasting throughout the day, but about internalising its teachings — refraining from all forms of wrongdoing and injustice, living a righteous life, strengthening unity, and following the path of justice throughout the remaining eleven months of the year.
Among those in attendance were former Chairman and current Senior Vice Chairman, Amir Hussain, Treasurer Shahin Miah (UD); former Chairmen Azad Miah Faruk, Ayub Khan (also former Chairman of the London Muslim Centre); former Vice Chairman Shahin Miah (Milik); former Treasurers Faruk Miah (Zilu), Kamal Hussain, M.A. Kawsar, Jitu Miah; along with Rouf Miah, Lutfur Rahman, Ajmal Ali (Shipu), Sadek Miah Lebu, Nanu Miah, Abdul Motin (Afroz), Abdur Roshik, Koys Hussein, Abdul Ashiq, Alec Miah, Moshiur Rahman Raja, Hiron Miah, Suruk Miah, Rajon Miah, Ziaul Amin (Jewel), Helal Amin, Kazol Miah, Toymus Khan, Abu Bokkor Khan, Reza Khan, Ataur Rahman Khan, Ruhul Amin, Jabarul Amin, and many other respected village dignitaries.
The event served as a powerful reflection of unity, providing attendees with an opportunity to come together as a community, reflect on the blessings of Ramadan and receive valuable spiritual guidance.
