GDCA Iftar Mehfil 2025

A discussion on the significance of Ramadhan and an Iftar Mehfil was organised by Greater Dawrai Community Association UK, an organisation of the Greater Dawrai expatriates of Jagannathpur living in the UK.


The event was held on ​​Tuesday, 11th March 2025 at a banqueting hall in East London. Many expatriates from different cities in the UK participated in the event.


The event was chaired by Anis Ali and conducted by the General Secretary Mahboob Islam (Hanif). The audience was addressed by several notable figures, including the former chairman of the organisation Amir Hussain, local resident Dr. Zakir Khan, former chairman of the East London Mosque Ayub Khan, joint secretary Ruhul Amin, treasurer Shahin Miah, joint treasurer Moshiur Rahman (Raja), and community elder Moyn Uddin Khan.


After discussing the significance of Ramadhan, the senior imam of East London Mosque, Sheikh Abul Hussain Khan, led the duas.


Officials of the organisation explained the objectives of the 2008 established GDCA UK which included social and infrastructure improvements in the Greater Dawrai area as well as inspiring the younger generation in the UK who have families that originated from the village of Dawrai.


The leaders of the organisation called on all Dawrai expatriates in the UK to accept membership of the organisation to accelerate the continued development of the village and foster greater bonds in the UK community.
