GDCA IFTAR MEHFIL 2024

Greater Dawrai Community Association (GDCA UK) held a discussion on the significance of Ramadhan at the annual Iftar Mehfil on Tuesday 26th March 2024, at the London Muslim Centre in East London.

Membership Secretary Tarif Khan opened the event with recitation from the Quran. The event was Chaired by Amir Hussain who presided over the ceremony which was attended by a large number of Greater Dawrai residents and guests. Conducted by Mahboob Hanif Islam (Bulbul), the Iftar was attended by GDCA Executive Committee Members including Ayub Khan (former Chairman of London Muslim Centre), Vice President Shaheen Miah, senior EC members Tajul Islam, Luthfur Rahman and Shah Ajmol Ali Shipu, Treasurer Jitu Miah, Assistant Treasurer Moshiur Rahman Raja, Youth and Sports Secretary Koys Hussain, EC members Kamal Hussain, Ataur Khan, Khajol Miah, Helal Amin, Shofiul Amin Shofi amongst others. Also present was Mossoddor Ali Abdal, Toymus Khan, Ziaul Amin Jewel and many other respected members of GDCA.

As the time of Iftar approached, Imam Hafez Maulana Abul Hussain of East London Masjid engaged in an Islamic discussion on the significance of Ramadhan and what Muslims should and shouldn't do. He emphasised that Ramadhan was not just about abstaining from food all day, but that it should be a month where we strengthen our Iman and refrain from haram and unjust actions. It is a month that can help us re-establsih good deeds and behaviours and set the way for the next 11 months.

Sheikh Abu Khaled Siraji concluded the event with Duas for the Muslim Ummah including the residents of Greater Dawrai, both living and deceased, including the late Mr Tokhlis Khan.
